Can I use the Q5 Pro spotlights on their own, without a controller?
No. The Q5 Pro requires either the RLC3 Universal Controller or the RLC-CAN BMW Controller to operate — the spotlights cannot be powered or adjusted without one. We strongly recommend ordering your spotlights and controller together as a bundle to avoid receiving a set that you can't yet use.
Which controller should I choose — RLC3 or RLC-CAN?
It depends on your motorcycle:
・RLC3 Universal Controller works on any motorcycle, mounts to your handlebar, and offers stepless dial dimming with a color-changing LED indicator.
・RLC-CAN BMW Controller works only on compatible BMW models and integrates natively with your Wonder Wheel (Multi-Controller), turn signals, hazard switch, and horn — for an OEM-grade experience.
If you ride a BMW listed in our compatibility table, the RLC-CAN gives you the cleanest, most integrated experience. For every other bike — including non-listed BMW models — the RLC3 is the right choice.
Will the RLC-CAN work on my specific BMW model?
The RLC-CAN connects via a model-specific adapter cable. Confirmed compatibility includes:
・4-Pin RDC cable: R1200GS / GS Adventure · R1250GS / GS Adventure · R1200R · R1200RT · R1250RT
・6-Pin DWA cable: R1300GS / GS Adventure
・8-Pin RDC cable: K1600 · F750GS · F850GS · F900 · R18 · S1000XR · C400X · C400GT
If your model isn't listed, contact us before ordering and we'll confirm compatibility based on your year and trim.
Does the Q5 Pro fit my motorcycle?
The Q5 Pro is designed to fit virtually any motorcycle with standard crash bars or accessory mounting points. Each housing measures 104mm in diameter × 120mm in height. The beam angle is fully adjustable after installation, so you can fine-tune aim regardless of mounting position. If you're unsure whether your bike has suitable mounting locations, send us a photo of your front-end setup and we'll help you confirm.
How difficult is the installation? Can I do it myself?
For experienced DIY riders, expect 60–120 minutes for the full installation — including mounting the spotlights, routing the wiring harness, and connecting power to your battery. The RLC3 uses a clearly labeled segmented harness (red for positive, black for negative, plus an ACC trigger lead). The RLC-CAN simply plugs into your BMW's CAN bus via the correct adapter cable — no splicing or wire-cutting required.
If you're not comfortable with motorcycle electrical work, we recommend having the installation done by a professional mechanic. A detailed installation guide and wiring diagram are included with every order.
Will the spotlights drain my battery when the bike is parked?
No. Both controllers connect to your motorcycle's ACC (ignition) circuit, meaning the Q5 Pro system only powers up when your engine is running. When the bike is off, the system draws zero current — so you can leave your motorcycle parked for weeks without worrying about battery drain or accidental activation.
What's the difference between the white and yellow light modes?
・White light (5700–6300K) delivers crisp, daylight-grade illumination across four adjustable brightness levels — ideal for open roads, dark highways, and trail riding in clear conditions.
・Yellow light is a dedicated single-output mode optimized for fog, heavy rain, dust, and snow. The longer wavelength of yellow light penetrates particles in the air without reflecting back at you, dramatically improving visibility in low-contrast weather.
Most riders use white for everyday riding and switch to yellow when weather conditions degrade.
How far does the Q5 Pro actually illuminate?
The Q5 Pro projects a usable beam of 200m+ in spot mode under normal conditions, while the hybrid optical design simultaneously delivers wide flood coverage for peripheral visibility. Real-world range will vary depending on weather, terrain, and ambient light.
The lights got dimmer during a long ride — is something wrong?
No, this is normal and intentional. The Q5 Pro features intelligent thermal control that automatically reduces output when the light housing temperature exceeds approximately 70–75°C. This protects the LEDs from heat damage and prevents accidental burns if the housing is touched. Once temperatures normalize, full brightness is restored automatically. This is a designed safety feature, not a malfunction.
Are the Q5 Pro spotlights waterproof enough for heavy rain or river crossings?
Yes. The Q5 Pro is rated IP68 — the highest dust and water protection rating in the consumer electronics standard. This means the housings are completely sealed against dust and can withstand sustained immersion in water. Heavy rain, mud, pressure-washing, and shallow water crossings pose no risk to the spotlights.
What's covered under the warranty?
Every Q5 Pro purchase includes a standard 1-year warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship under normal use. As part of our launch promotion, early buyers receive a bonus 1-year extension, for a total of 2 years of coverage. The warranty does not cover damage from accidents, improper installation, modifications, or water ingress caused by physical damage to the housing.
